Black Maternal Health Week & The Florida Fertility Expo: Advocating for Change & Empowerment!

Fort Lauderdale, FL — The Florida Fertility Expo, produced by Yes To Fertility, is set to take place on April 18 & 19, bringing together experts, advocates, and families navigating the complexities of reproductive health. With a strong emphasis on maternal health, the event will provide critical education, support, and advocacy for individuals and couples seeking fertility and reproductive solutions.

Black Maternal Health Week (April 11-17) shines a critical light on the disparities in maternal and reproductive health faced by Black women. With higher risks of complications, limited access to fertility care, and systemic healthcare biases, it’s more important than ever to raise
awareness, improve access, and advocate for equitable healthcare solutions.

Maternal health is a crucial component of public health, encompassing care before, during, and after pregnancy. While global efforts have significantly reduced maternal mortality—by about 38% from 2000 to 2017—the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aim to further lower the global maternal mortality ratio to less than 70 per 100,000 live births by 2030. The Florida Fertility Expo is dedicated to furthering these efforts by fostering conversations, expanding awareness, and promoting equitable access to healthcare services.

The Florida Fertility Expo is a vital platform to learn, connect, and take action. This event brings together top fertility experts, advocates, and wellness professionals to discuss solutions, resources, and advancements in reproductive health—ensuring that every individual, regardless of background, has the support they need on their journey to parenthood.

The expo kicks off with the 2025 Florida Reproductive & Maternal Equity Virtual Summit, presented by the Cade Foundation and Yes To Fertility. This live panel discussion will address infertility, maternal health, and reproductive challenges in urban communities. Experts will explore the factors contributing to poor maternal health outcomes and highlight community-driven solutions aimed at improving reproductive care and accessibility. Additionally, the panel will examine Florida state laws that impact access to maternal healthcare, reinforcing the need for advocacy and systemic change.

On Saturday, the main expo, hosted at the Urban League of Broward County, will offer attendees access to leading fertility specialists, healthcare providers, and wellness practitioners. The event will explore the four core pillars of fertility and reproductive health:
– Infertility Awareness – Addressing common fertility challenges, available treatments, and support systems.
– Maternal Health – Providing education on prenatal, perinatal, and postpartum care to ensure healthier outcomes for mothers and babies.
– Integrative Medicine – Showcasing holistic approaches, including acupuncture, nutrition, and lifestyle adjustments that support reproductive health.
– FemTech – Highlighting innovations in digital health, AI-driven diagnostics, and fertility tracking solutions that empower women to take control of their reproductive journey.

“This expo is a vital step toward addressing disparities in maternal and reproductive health,” said a representative from Yes To Fertility. “Far too many women, particularly women of color, experience barriers to care, and we are committed to providing education and resources that help bridge those gaps.”

In addition to exhibitor booths and expert-led seminars, attendees will have the chance to win raffle prizes, including a $3,999 IVF treatment credit donated by CNY Fertility, a free new patient consultation valued at $600, and a $15,000 discount on surrogacy services. By bringing together medical professionals, researchers, and advocates, the Florida Fertility Expo aims to drive positive change in maternal and reproductive healthcare. The event is designed for anyone looking to expand their family—whether through IVF, surrogacy, adoption, or foster care—while also addressing the broader challenges in maternal health that affect women of all backgrounds.
